The Magnificent Seven: meet our newest champions

They deliver South Australia’s biggest stories every night. Now seven of 7NEWS Adelaide’s most recognisable faces are coming together to help tell another important story.

Joining Firefly Children’s Foundation Ambassador Rosanna Mangiarelli are seven of her 7NEWS colleagues, who have proudly signed on as the Foundation’s newest champions, helping shine a light on the incredible research changing the lives of South Australian children and families.

The Magnificent Seven includes presenters Casey Treloar, Elspeth Hussey, Gertie Spurling, Mark Soderstrom, Mike Smithson, Sarah Cumming and Will Goodings, who will use their voices and platforms to support our mission throughout the year.

Together, they’ll help celebrate the breakthroughs made possible through the Foundation, raise awareness of the life-changing work being undertaken by South Australian researchers, and encourage the community to get behind the cause.

For Rosanna, who has proudly served as Ambassador for many years, welcoming her
colleagues on board is something special.

“I’ve seen first-hand the extraordinary difference Firefly Children’s Foundation makes to children
and families across South Australia.”

To now have my 7NEWS family standing alongside me means so much. Together, we can help tell these incredible stories, celebrate our researchers and hopefully inspire even more people to support this important work.

Each of the seven champions has their own reason for supporting Firefly Children’s Foundation, but they’re united by a shared belief that every child deserves the healthiest possible start in life.

As both a trusted journalist and a mum, 7NEWS Adelaide presenter Gertie Spurling says supporting South Australian children and families is a cause close to her heart.

Every South Australian child deserves access to the very best healthcare and education. As a mother, it’s what I want for my children, and so it’s a privilege to work with Firefly Children’s Foundation to help improve the lives of many families. With the support of others, I know we can make a real difference.

From pioneering medical discoveries to practical research that improves children’s health and wellbeing, we have been funding world-class South Australian research for 50 years, helping transform ideas into real outcomes for families.

Over the coming months, the champions will attend events, share stories and help spread awareness of the Foundation’s impact across the community.
